Who We Are

Egypt Wanderer is an independent travel magazine covering Egypt. The site is operated from Egypt and read worldwide. To reach a person about anything on this page, use the contact details at the bottom.

What We Collect, And When

There is no account to create, and you can read every article here without giving us anything.

• Newsletter. If you subscribe we store the email address you type and the date you subscribed. That is the entire record. It is held in FluentCRM on our own server rather than with an outside mailing service.
• Contact form. If you write to us we keep your message and whatever contact detail you included, for as long as it takes to answer and to keep a record of the correspondence.
• Analytics. We use Google Analytics to count visits and see which articles get read. It records the pages you open, roughly where in the world you are, and the kind of device you used. We do not use it to identify individuals.
• Server logs. Like every website, our host records IP addresses and requests for security and troubleshooting.

Advertising And Third-Party Cookies

Egypt Wanderer may display advertising supplied by third-party advertising companies, including Google.

• Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites.
• Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and other sites on the internet.

How We Use What We Collect

Your email address is used to send the newsletter you asked for, and nothing else. Your contact message is used to reply to you. Analytics tells us which subjects are worth writing more about. We do not sell your personal data, and we do not pass it to anyone for their own marketing.

How Long We Keep It

Newsletter subscriptions are kept until you unsubscribe. Contact messages are kept for up to two years. Analytics data follows Google’s own retention settings. Server logs are rotated by our host on its standard schedule.

Your Rights

You can unsubscribe from the newsletter using the link at the foot of any email we send, and that takes effect immediately. You can also ask us for a copy of anything we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, by emailing the address below. If you are in the EEA or the UK you have these rights under the GDPR, and we will answer within one month. If you are in California you have comparable rights under the CCPA, including the right to know what is collected and to ask for deletion.

Cookies You Can Control

Analytics and advertising cookies can be refused through the consent banner where it applies to you, and all cookies can be blocked or deleted in your browser settings. Blocking them does not stop you reading anything on this site.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.
