Al Moudira is the anti-hotel hotel — a honeycomb of ten courtyards built from scratch in 1999 by Zeina Aboukheir on nearly eight hectares of Luxor’s quiet West Bank, designed to feel centuries old despite being genuinely new.
Every one of its 54 rooms and suites is individually decorated with antiques and furnishings sourced across the Middle East — no two are alike. The hotel grows much of its own produce on-site for the restaurant, and even makes its own tableware and glassware, a level of self-sufficiency almost unheard of at this scale. It holds two Michelin Keys, the guide’s rating for exceptional hotels.
