The Sonesta Nile Goddess was the first Nile vessel launched by Sonesta International Hotels back in 1989 — the original ship in what’s now a six-strong fleet of Goddess-named vessels, refurbished in 2002 and still sailing the same Luxor–Aswan route today.
Built at the Maasara shipyard in Cairo, the ship carries 53 river-facing cabins across three of its five decks — 47 Deluxe cabins at 215 square feet, some with a sofa bed for a third guest, plus two 322-square-foot Senator Suites and four Presidential Suites with private terraces. Interiors lean into rich reds and browns with extensive wood finishes, a genuinely different aesthetic from the brighter, more contemporary decor on Sonesta’s newer ships.
The main dining room serves buffet breakfast and lunch with à la carte dinners; a large, airy atrium anchors the ship’s public spaces. Entertainment includes a discotheque, belly dance and Nubian folkloric shows, and a Galabya party — standard across the Sonesta fleet, but genuinely well-established here given the ship’s decades of experience running the same circuit.
